PO-01-051 EARLY PHYSICIAN ARRIVAL TO ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY INCREASES LAB EFFICIENCY BY DECREASING PREPARATION TIME

چکیده

Many cardiac arrhythmia patients benefit from interventions performed in the electrophysiology (EP) lab. EP labs are a valuable resource that if not used efficiently may lead to delay patient care, increased cost medical system, and challenges with recruiting retaining staff. Prep time is defined as when (pt) enters procedural room until procedure start. affected by many factors, including but limited to: pt staffing ratios, sedation plan, need for invasive hemodynamic monitoring, complexity of (proc). Physician arrival lab an important component prep time. To determine earlier physician shortens Pt in-room times, proc start characteristics were recorded over 5 month period 5/22 through 8/22. Quantitative data was divided into subgroups based on type – ablation (abl) or device. Means standard deviation calculated. A scatter plot compared created best-fit polynomial regression (Fig 1). Point maximum correlation (PMC) calculated using Pearson’s method linear applied point onward. Cases understaffed VT highlighted. Of 539 cases, 235 (44%) device implants 304 (56%) abl. The difference between earliest average latest 17min 16 min 15 minutes shorter arriving device, 28 PMC abl 25mins 30mins respectively. Every minute after directly related MD being present For interval prior PMC, there factors causing delays lab, leading questionable direct minimum both appears be 20 mins this current culture. Earlier times increase efficiency reducing times.Tabled 1Mean Room Times Access (min) +/-SDAblationDevice ImplantMean RoomMean AccessMean Rm AccessEP115+/-1347+/-1111+/-1246+/-10EP211+/-942+/-1011+/-942+/-10EP318+/-850+/-1213+/-1647+/-16EP425+/-1449+/-1126+/-2149+/-16EP524+/-1660+/-2021+/-1652+/-14EP68+/-1032+/-84+/-837+/-9EP78+/-831+/-107+/-637+/-7 Open table new tab

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Web Lab.

Computational modeling of cardiac cellular electrophysiology has a long history, and many models are now available for different species, cell types, and experimental preparations. This success brings with it a challenge: how do we assess and compare the underlying hypotheses and emergent behaviors so that we can choose a model as a suitable basis for a new study or to characterize how a partic...

Myocardial conduction depends on the magnitude of the fast inward sodium current as well as on cardiac fiber orientation, with more rapid propagation along myocardial fibers than across them. Although antiarrhythmic drugs depress the sodium current in a frequency-dependent fashion in vitro, their effects on conduction in the intact ventricle have been less well studied. We therefore evaluated t...

Myosin Va increases the efficiency of neurofilament transport by decreasing the duration of long-term pauses.

We investigated the axonal transport of neurofilaments in cultured neurons from two different strains of dilute lethal mice, which lack myosin Va. To analyze the motile behavior, we tracked the movement of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged neurofilaments through naturally occurring gaps in the axonal neurofilament array of cultured superior cervical ganglion neurons from DLS/LeJ dilute let...

Laboratory Investigation Electrophysiology

We studied the ability of a-adrenergic stimulation to induce delayed afterdepolarizations and triggered activity in Purkinje fibers from cat hearts in the presence of an elevated Ca+ + concentration. Delayed afterdepolarizations could not be induced at drive cycle lengths of 200 to 500 msec in the presence of extracellular Ca+ + concentrations of 2.7 to 8.1 mM. However, the addition of 10-5M ph...

We developed a quantitative approach to assess the antifibrillatory effects of short-term interventions in a canine preparation of ventricular fibrillation caused by coronary reperfusion, and applied it to evaluate the antifibrillatory effects of bretylium tosylate. Twenty-five dogs were given 10 mg/kg infusions of bretylium over 10 min, subjected to a 20 min proximal left anterior descending c...
